Moritz Kobitzsch, PhD is a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer at Google with a focus on algorithm engineering. He has over 7 years of relevant experience in the field and is proficient in various tech stacks such as Big Data, infra, integration, backend, CI/CD, and frontend. At Google, Moritz is a part of the logs processing team for YouTube where he builds scalable infrastructure for real-time big data. He is responsible for providing tools and systems that power the analytics for YouTubers worldwide. Moritz has also worked on a project called Opportunities, which helps merchants get the best out of their shopping campaigns. Through extensive data analysis, he provides insights to merchants and helps them focus on key issues. His highly scalable, parallel algorithms support finding the right priorities for improvements. Prior to joining Google, Moritz worked as a Senior Software Engineer at Mapbox. There, he was one of the core contributors to OSRM (Open Source Routing Machine), a highly performant navigation engine. He was responsible for the guidance engine and designed and implemented a system that produces high-quality navigation instructions on noisy OSM (Open Street Map) data.
